Burner is a general term for the installation of fuel and air ejected, mixed and extinguished in a certain way. Burners are divided into industrial burners, extinguishers, civil burners and special burners according to types and application categories. It is mostly made of corrosion-resistant and high temperature resistant materials such as stainless steel or metal titanium.

   The function of the burner is to atomize the sample after the flame is extinguished. The atomized test solution enters the burner. Under the action of flame temperature and flame atmosphere, a large number of ground state atoms, locally excited atoms, ions and molecules are produced through the processes of drying, melting, evaporation and dissociation.

   A well-designed burner shall have the performance of high atomization efficiency, low noise and stable flame, so as to ensure high absorption flexibility and measurement precision. Gap burners are often used to produce atomic vapor in atomic absorption spectrometry. According to different types of gas and auxiliary gas used, the length and width of burner gap are different. Applicable gas and auxiliary gas are marked on ordinary burners.

   In the broad concept of burner, domestic water heater, gas stove and even lighter can be regarded as a kind of burner. According to its working principle, the burner can be defined as a kind of equipment that converts substances into heat energy through the chemical reaction of extinguishing - air and fuel are premixed and mixed in an appropriate proportion to fully extinguish them.
